About the Artist

BRIAN KOOSER is a Sculptor, Teacher and Designer. His career as a puppeteer began at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington, where he studied puppetry and design under Jim Hawkins. His skills refined during a 10-year stint as Journeyman with Jean Enticknap at Thistle Theatre.

Brian’s painstakingly sculpted puppets and exquisitely painted sets, along with realistic manipulation using Bunraku ( an ancient Japanese form of puppetry), sweep an audience into his comic and bittersweet universe.

His best-known works include stunning and colossal puppets for the Fremont Arts Council’s yearly Solstice Parade and the dark and lovely Frankennochio, which premiered at Seattle’s Nippon Kan Theater and remounted to sold-out perfomances for three weeks at Empty Space Theatre.
